![]() Placing dynamite in the path of multiple fish will land you combos, which earns you additional gold. Each bear has its own ammo and health bar for its boat, requiring you to be strategic with your firepower. In terms of control, Stop Those Fish feels satisfying, and placing dynamite is painless and fairly accurate. In the game’s latter levels, new types of fish will try to outsmart you, changing up their swimming patterns, and anticipating their position offers ample challenge. Your bears are spaced evenly along the surface of the water, and you’ll need to draw lines from your bears to the fish in order to blast them with dynamite. It’s a cute concept with novel gameplay, but the overall package simply isn’t compelling enough to justify the cost.Īs is typical of this sort of casual fare, Stop Those Fish is divvied up into bite-sized levels. ![]() You’ll need to keep the fish at bay lest they damage and ultimately sink your boats and your bears. Each of your bears will man their own vessel, armed with dynamite. In this particular adventure, your bears are out boating, and the fish have stirred up something of an uprising. Stop Those Fish is a story about three bears, but Goldilocks has left the building. With Stop Those Fish, Eye Interactive adds one more chain in the link of pay-to-play time wasters, helping to strengthen the reliance mobile games have upon in-app purchases. While this game works really well, it just doesn't seem to have the staying power to pull gamers back time after time. It’s official: arcades are back, except now they’re virtual and on your favorite mobile devices. Unfortunately, it takes more than that to make a game really fun to play again and again. Stop Those Fish is a quirky aquatic spin on classic arcade game type and it has lots of character. Thankfully, the mechanics are solid too and they'll never leave players treading water. The upgrade options are also super fun, and satisfying. That said, the game does a great job at presenting the players new environments and different situations to change up the gameplay just a bit. Some enemy types that require some different tactics would help this game a lot. Just blowing them all up the same way with dynamite gets a bit tired. There are lots of different enemy types that could be used to keep things fresh, but the ways to deal with these different fish is always the same. ![]() This throw and explode gameplay in Stop Those Fish is interesting for a few levels, but after about three levels it starts to feel a bit too repetitive. By tracing out the right path for each stick of dynamite and timing the explosions correctly, players can protect the bears from the fish's attacks. Once they lift their finger, the bear chucks a stick of dynamite that - contrary to any laws of physics - follows the line exactly and explodes at the line's end. Players draw lines from any of the bears to anywhere on the screen. Stop Those Fish plays very much like a missile command game turned on its head. ![]() Unfortunately, even though there is lots of variation in the game, the fairly bland gameplay wears down quickly. Players direct these bears in throwing sticks of dynamite from their boats into the water to fight against waves of super aggressive fish bent on sinking their boats. Dynamite certainly makes quick work of fish, and the three bears that are the main characters in Stop Those Fish have embraced this more obtuse approach to fishing wholeheartedly. There are certain ways of fishing that are decidedly less sophisticated than using a rod and bait or tackle. Fishing is an active sport that embodies the struggle of man against the elements and nature.
